At Eskdale we pride ourselves in having a welcoming and well resourced school library, which is run by a group of pupil reading role models.
We have organised a group of our children to help with the running of the library as we feel it helps develop a sense of responsibility, achievement and self-esteem in the children. Their duties include shelving books, helping to issue and return books and to help other children to find what they are looking for at set times in the school day. Also, they are responsible for running or helping run various activities that take place in the library, such as story time, 1-1 reading, craft club and book club.
Now that the weather is getting better, all children can enjoy reading in the courtyards, where there is "grass", comfy beanbags and shade! These are also used by classes for story time.
