Good morning year 4! Hope you are ready for a new week of home learning.


Morning Activity


To start the day off, spend 10 minutes completing arithmetic pg 38. Remember to show your working out. After 10 minutes, use the answers to mark and correct any you have got wrong.

Today's first job is to go back to the work you completed on Friday and use the answers below to mark. Please complete any correctionscfor the ones you have got wrong.

Main lesson


Today, we are ending our area unit of learning in maths. Just like we normally do after every unit, we would like you to carry out the end of unit test. 

This must be done independently as we want to see what you have learnt and what we may still need to go over in our lesson recaps.

Once you have completed the mini tests, please ask your parents to mark them with the answers below and send us your two scores to the year 4 email address.



In literacy today, we are going to be looking at the poem 'The Sound Collector' again.

You are going to just focus on the first and last stanza only and you will be thinking about how the poem makes you feel and who 'The Stranger' may be.


Main Lesson

First, write the long date Monday 1st February 2021 and the title The Sound Collector. Use your ruler to underline both.


Next, have a look at the criteria below and complete you recap.

Today, we are going to be looking at the Roman army and comparing it to the Celtic army.


First, look at the criteria below.

Now have a look at how the Celtic tribes organised their armies. Read the link below.



Finally, read the document on Celtic warriors below.



Now you have collected information about the Roman army and the Celtic army you are now going to complete a comparison of the two. Using the venn diagram template below, write out the features of a Roman army on one side and the features of a Celtic army on the other side. In the overlapping section, write out the similarities between the two armies.


For a challenge, you could compare the Roman and Celtic armies with out army today. Again venn diagram template for you to use is below.
