Eskdale Junior School
S.T.A.R.S. (Before & After School Club)
Our Aims
We endeavour to provide an atmosphere and activities similar to those at home by providing secure, safe & healthy care before and after the school day, which builds on home life by:
-
Providing a healthy breakfast/tea time snack
-
Instilling good homework habits
-
Improving speaking and listening skills by talking about the school day
-
Working with parents to understand every child’s needs
Activities
Our club prides itself on being a ‘home from home’ with a focus on talking together, group discussions that will enable them to develop their own interests and opinions about the world around them.
Each day, the children have the opportunity to join in a range of activities. Screen time and the use of electronics is not used at STARS, with the emphasis on other activities such as reading, support with homework, board games, various toys, outdoor play, craft/art, basic cooking activities, sport and much more.
At STARS, we provide the perfect opportunities for children to develop friendships across year groups, to increase confidence and expand their life skills.
Activities will take place in the school bungalow in the bungalow garden area or on the school grounds.
Breakfast and Snacks
We provide a healthy breakfast in the morning which consists of a selection of cereals, toast, fruit and a drink. A light snack is served between 4.15pm and 4.30pm after school. This will be a changing menu of items, such as sandwiches, toast with toppings, soup, pasta & rice.
The children will be encouraged to help clear away and occasionally help to prepare food to start to learn some basic cooking skills.
Opening Hours and Prices
The club consists of a breakfast club from 7.30am to 8.50am and an after-school club which is open from 3.20pm to 6pm. Breakfast club is £7 per session and after school is £11.50 per session.
Children should be dropped off at breakfast club from 7.30am, and they will then be sent to their classrooms from 8.50am for an 8.55am start.
After school, children will be reminded by their teacher to go to the club in the bungalow at the end of the day if they are in years 5/6. In the year, children will be collected by a member of club staff and taken to the bungalow.
Children should be collected by parents/carers as detailed on the registration form by 6pm.
