Good morning year 4! We are nearly there with your home learning. Hope everyone is still safe and well.


Morning Activity


To start the day off, spend 10 minutes completing pg 118 showing all your working out. After 10 minutes, use the answers to mark and correct any you have got wrong.




Today, we will be describing movement on a grid.


First, write the date 15.07.21 and the title Describing movement on a grid. Use a ruler to underline both.


Next, have a look at the slides for the criteria for the lesson and complete your recap.


Finally, work your way through the slides (these are the ones that we normally use in maths lessons, so you should be confident with the layout). Remember to take in the teaching points that are given to you. We have also added the whiterose video for extra guidance if you need to watch this.

First, write the long date Thursday 15th July 2021 and the title SPAG-Conjunctions/Connectives. Use your ruler to underline both.


Next, have a look at the s/c below and complete your recap.


Main lesson


Today you are going to re-cap your knowledge on conjunctions/connectives.


First, we would like you to read through the definitions of conjunctions/ connectives. This will help jog your memory if you are struggling. Also please refer back to these throughout the lesson for guidance.

Next, look through the powerpoint below. This will explain your first task.

Once you have given your self some time to complete task 1, you can look at the list below to support you with your answers.

Finally, what we would like you to do is have ago at the challenge.  Below are 3 simple sentences and what we would like you to do is have ago at trying to extend the simple sentence using as many examples of the conjunctions/connectives collected in your task 1. We would like you to try and use an example from each different type of connective.


For example:


Simple sentence is: The train journey was long.


An example for opposition/ contributing: The train journey was long, however I fell to sleep during it.

An example for cause and effect: The train journey was long, therefore I didn't get to my destination until the sun had set.


Please remember to put in your commas and that the conjunction doesn't always have to be used at the end.
