Afternoon Subject

Design Technology

Below is our success criteria for this lesson. This will last us for two weeks. The success criteria highlighted blue is the one that we are working on today. We will cover the remaining 2 next week.

WALT - To generate innovative ideas, considering appeal, function and purpose of the object.

Success Criteria

• I can evaluate methods and identify criteria that can be used for my own designs
• I can generate annotated sketches from different views showing specific features
• I can clearly plan how to use materials, equipment and processes, and suggest alternative methods of making, if the first attempts fail.

This term you are going to be designing and making your own aqueduct. Before you plan your design next week you need to have a go at some of the skills you will need. (As with the sewing last term, this will help inform you about which skills you found easier and which you want to use in your own design.)

Watch the video clip below. This goes through 11 ways to cut and connect card. You will need some pieces of card, scissors, tape or glue to help you.

Once you’ve watched the clip have a go at trying at least 3 of the methods yourself. You can try more if you want to. On the video the demonstrator uses a penknife. YOU MUST USE SCISSORS.
