Reading

Read three times at home and record this in your child’s diary. They may also be set ‘Reading Challenges’ to complete – you will find these in your child’s diaries.

Diaries will be checked on a Friday

Your child will need to bring their diary in every day and record their reading in it, ideally daily, but at least 3 times a week.  In school we offer homework clubs during lunchtimes where your child can receive support with their homework and find a quiet space to work. Usually there will be a piece of Numeracy and Literacy homework each week, alongside spellings.

During the first term and a half we will be swimming on Mondays.  You will receive letters with further information about goggles and kit, but the most important thing is to come in your PE kit and to bring your swimming costume and towel.

If you have not already done so, please sign up to the Marvellous Me App. Marvellous Me is a great way for your class teacher to communicate with you about upcoming events or things that your child has achieved in school.

All parents and children are asked to sign our home school agreement in the diary that your child will be given at the start of Year 5. This sets out our expectations as a school and we ask that you read, sign and adhere to the agreement upon your child joining us at Eskdale.
