Welcome to Year 6!
There are two classes in Year 6: 6T is taught by Miss Tabram and supported by Mrs Roberts, Mrs Farmer and Mrs Walters; and 6G is taught by Miss Groves and supported by Mrs Lee. Our third Year 6 teacher is Mrs Playford and she works with both classes on Monday to Wednesday.
Each child will have a diary that is full of useful information for both parents and children, which will be expected to be handed in on Fridays. Inside, there is a place to record when parents have read with their child at home. We encourage each child to read at least 3 times a week, which will be recorded in their diary and signed by a parent/carer. Children will be rewarded in class when this happens.
We use this diary as a way of teachers and parents/carers communicating with one another. These are checked weekly and signed by a member of staff weekly.
At the back of the diaries are a set of Year 6 Reading Challenges. When all challenges are complete, the children will receive a very special badge which will be presented by Mr Scruton in assembly!
Mrs Lee is running homework clubs on Tuesday (for maths, literacy and spellings) and Thursday (for Times Tables Rockstars).
Learning Times Tables in Year 6 is essential as they underpin all of the Year 6 maths lessons. Each week the children are set tasks to do which must be completed as part of their homework.
Click on the Useful Links page to find songs to help learn times tables.
Children will need to come to school in their school PE kit every Thursday, suitable for the weather conditions.
