Welcome to Year 6!
There are two classes in Year 6: 6T is taught by Miss Tabram and supported by Mrs Deehan; and 6G is taught by Miss Groves and supported by Mrs Lee. Mrs Gordon and Mrs Simpson work in both classes.
Diaries
Each child will have a diary that is full of useful information for both parents and children, which will be expected to be handed in on Fridays. Inside, there is a place to record when parents have read with their child at home. We encourage each child to read at least 3 times a week, which will be recorded in their diary and signed by a parent/carer. Children will be rewarded in class when this happens.
We use this diary as a way of teachers and parents/carers communicating with one another. These are checked weekly and signed by a member of staff weekly.
At the back of the diaries are a set of Year 6 Reading Challenges. When all challenges are complete, the children will receive a very special badge which will be presented by Mr Scruton in assembly!
Homework
In addition to 3 reads every week (diaries handed in on Fridays), we expect children to complete Times Tables Rockstars homework (handed in on Thursdays) and spelling/grammar homework (handed in on Thursdays).
Mrs Lee is running homework clubs on Tuesday.
Times Tables
Learning Times Tables in Year 6 is essential as they underpin all of the Year 6 maths lessons. Each week the children are set tasks to do which must be completed as part of their homework.
Click on the Useful Links page to find songs to help learn times tables.
P.E
Children will need to come to school in their school PE kit every Tuesday and Thursday, suitable for the weather conditions.
